Summer Catch Up...

It has been two months since I blogged last. Pretty sure that is a new record for me. I think it might have something to do with having 3 kids in soccer and being just busy in general, but mostly 2nd grade homework. It has taken over my life! Thankfully due to my persistence, patience, and LOTS of support from my husband putting up with his frazzled wife nightly I think Ethan and I are making progress. We have cut the 2 1/2 hours a day down to about an hour and some of that hour I don't have to actually clear the room of all distractions and sit next to him the entire time. As I am emerging from the 2nd grade homework bubble I am realizing that I really need to get dinner figured out before the kids get home from school to make the evening less hectic. So, I am trying out some new recipes and new ways of organizing menus and such. Any suggestions please leave a comment or email me!

Here are pictures from our family reunion the first week in August that I didn't get to before. (This happened before our anniversary and the first day of school, so yes my blog is out of order.) We had a theme for this reunion which caused my 16 months old to become OBSESSED with trains.

We took a trip to the Folsom Zoo.

And of course took a train ride. We took up the whole train!

We went downtown and had some train museum fun.

The kids made homemade trains and held races and a parade.

We of course had lots of fun with water!
Swimming!

Baby pools aren't just for babies.

FUN waterslides!

More FUN waterslides.

The gang that went rafting on the Middle Fork. It was actually cold this day! Brent and I had a GREAT TIME on this river.

To give you some perspective this is the boat Brent and I were on. Yes, we are wearing helmets and yes there is a tunnel of rock we are about to go through. My brother Kyle is in the back guiding and I am just in front of him with a long sleeve black shirt. Brent is in the front left when you are looking at the picture.

This rapid we went above and scouted first. Most boats-even commercial were losing a couple people each. We knew we had to hit it right and stay straight without hitting the sides or we would ping pong and dump people out. After a certain point you sit inside the raft and hold your paddle straight up and down and just ride it out.

We made it through and didn't lose anyone!

My dad's boat that went before us-not so lucky. This is where they hit and my dad -the guide is starting to go out.

This is my dad basically out of the boat. We didn't see this because they had already dropped out of sight but he was under water for awhile.

"Floating" on the river with innertubes and boogie boards. Yes, you always have to wear a life jacket on this river even on the calm parts.

Smore Fun at the firepit along with throwing rocks in the river!

We had time with Siblings.

The cousins had LOTS of kids to play with!

Camping in grandma and grandpa's yard.

Grandpa Paul reading to the grandkids in the tent.

Whole family picture with our themed family reunion shirts minus about 6 family members that couldn't be there.

We filled the rest of the time with acting out scripture stories.

Participating in a talent show.

And going to Bounceopolis.

It was a whirlwind of a week with lots to do and catching up with family. Thanks for hosting grandma and grandpa!

very fun to see you posting!
advice on second grade homework... hang in there, they don't want you sitting with them in high school, so somewhere in between they figure it out.
love ya
